Safety Tip of the Week:

Week of May 20, 2019

When it comes to understanding body armor there can be confusion over which type of body armor protects against which type of ammunition.  Understanding the NIJ 0101.06 armor protection levels is clearly explained.  The term "Bullet Proof" is a widely used term that is inaccurate and paints a picture that it cannot be penetrated.  Any body armor has the potential to be penetrated.  There are various levels of protection that must be adhered to in the law enforcement world.  The (Justice Technology Information Center) JTIC Understanding NIJ 0101.06 Armor Protection Levels is a snapshot of the projectile threats and classification of body armor related to these threats.  Here is NIJ complete info on Body Armor

Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Carbon Monoxide can invade your home without warning.  It is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in the United States. It is essential for the safety of your household to have a carbon monoxide alarm installed in your house. One should be installed on every level of your home and every sleeping area to ensure the safety of your household. At Select Safety Sales, we have a selection of carbon monoxide alarms.  They all meet the requirement of the Underwriters Laboratory, Inc. (UL) voluntary standard (UL 2034).  One of our safety "picks" is the Kidde combination Alarm.  This is a technically advanced alarm that detects against two hazards in a single unit. It is a battery powered talking alarm that gives voice command warnings of both carbon monoxide and smoke.   The system will clearly announce "Fire", "Carbon Monoxide" and even "Low Battery"   Another nice feature of this one is that it will stay activated even in a power outage.
