Kidde Wireless Smoke Alarm System

Kidde's Wireless Interconnected Smoke Alarm System will dramatically increase your chance of escape if a fire was to start in your home.  It truly is the "latest and greatest" smoke alarm system.  It can give you and your family the extra time needed to escape in case of fire.  If a fire starts in the basement or other distant areas of the house, all alarms interconnected throughout the house will sound off simultaneaously. The fire and smoke generated from this distant source is realized way before it has made its way to other areas of the house which will give the inhabitants enough time to escape.  Installs easily with no messy wiring and labor cost.

The first thing that you need to do is to determine when setting up a wireless smoke alarm interconnected system is the type of smoke alarms that you have in your house now. Below is a general guide to the different types of smoke alarm systems that you could have in your house presently:

Older Homes built more than 20 years ago most likely have battery powered alarms.that are not interconnected.  These alarms do not have wires.  Simply replace your existing battery-powered alarms with the wireless battery powered alarms.  You can add up to 12 battery powered alarms to this system.

Homes built within the last 20 years have smoke alarms that are hardwired.  These alarms will have wires channeling through the walls and ceilings.  Push the test button to determine if your hardwired system is interconnected.  If only one alarm sounds off, it is not interconnected.  Simply replace the hardwired alarms with AC powered alarms and add battery powerd alarms for added coverage.  You can have up to 12 alarms interconnected.

Homes built within the last 15 years most likely have an interconnected system.  (Homes built after 1993 were required to have an interconnected system)  Buy one AC Powered smoke alarm and replace only one of the smoke alarms already in your inconnected system.  This will allow you to expand your coverage by adding battery powered smoke alarms to areas of the house that are not covered with your existing system.

Wireless (DC) Battery Powered Smoke Alarms (for new interconnected or extension of current system)

•Replace one existing interconnected alarm with new AC alarm.
•This will be the bridge between the old system and the new interconnected system.
